About apkproof
apkproof is an independent, non-commercial catalogue of Android apps and games. Its purpose is to show what is actually known about a record without turning a technical check into a guarantee.
What apkproof does
A HOST card includes an exact file apkproof holds. Any file-related checks and facts it shows are limited to that file and to the recorded version history shown on the card. A DATA_LINK card points to the official source; apkproof holds no file for it and has checked none. Its details are reference information from that listing, not results of an APK check.
Signature, SHA-256 and any dated VirusTotal reading are scoped to the exact file shown; certificate-history facts are scoped only to the versions apkproof holds and shows. They do not mean the app is safe, malware-free, endorsed by a store or developer, guaranteed authentic, or legally pre-cleared. The Methodology page explains each check and what it does not prove.
How the catalogue is organised
Apps and Games are separate namespaces. A record may have at most one primary category and any number of manually curated tags. If a category or tags are assigned, they stay inside that record's content kind — the same narrow tag or slug may exist separately for Apps and for Games. A category or tag only groups records for navigation; it is never a claim about trust, safety, a licence, a source, or any verification.
